Media works

I love working with various types of media, especially with the Adobe suite of products (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects). Photoshop, for example, helps me create nice photos and hide my defiencies as a photographer.

Photo enhancement

A prime example of how Photoshop is extremely useful (for a non photographer like me). Because I 'know' Photoshop very well, I don't have to be as careful in taking photos. With a digital camera, I can take multiple shots to ensure that at least one can be used to represent a particular moment in time.

For instance, I recently took several shots after the Championship Final of the Eastern Canadian Ringette Championships. I wanted to capture how sad the whole team was (my daughter's team) after losing a hard fought battle in overtime. While the Ottawa team were being awarded their gold medals (after our girls received their silver medals), the New Brunswick girls were all standing on their blueline. I stood behind to take several shots of the 'slumped shoulders'. Luckily Caroline was standing on the end of the line during this sequence so that I could single her out.

So below is an example of a 'raw' photograph and the finished shot after proper perspective framing, color fine tuning and simili depth of field effects.

Website development

I have developed or otherwise worked on various web sites for friends, within specific projects or simply for personal communication purposes. Some examples are listed below. I frequently work on website templates for fun (and will provide links to these in the near future).

pamphlet and book layouts

Using mostly Adobe inDesign (page layout software), I have developed a number of pamphlet and book layouts. A few examples are shown below (cover page only is shown).

I have been doing the cover layouts for the Revue de l'Université de Moncton since about 1999. For regular editions, I am constrained by the template layout that existed before I arrived but for special issues I can be more creative and jazz it up a little.
